Forum signature pictures
Posted by FThunder11 on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 8:55 PM
I've noticed that many people have a picture in their signature. How do you do that? I have a good picture for mine but, I don't l know how to do it.[B)]

put the link you want inbetween the command as shown in the forumcode list, using the img /img command between brackets and it should come out like this;

I think you put the link to this page in your sig:

http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=38553

and not the link to the picture on that page, wich is:

http://railpictures.net/images/c/CRW_7050-1m.jpg.32023

hope it was what you were looking for

To post a photo in a thread or in your membership profile, the photo must be placed on the web somewhere and not on your home PC. Your account with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may include a small amount of webspace, or you can open an account with a website like railpictures.net.

Once you've done that, the photo will have a web address. Go into the Profile section of this site, and insert that address in the space marked "Picture URL".
For example, my photo is located at:

http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/sue.ellen/photos/baby/foamers.jpg

To post that in a thread or in my signature, I have to enclose the address in image tags. Inserting this into the text of my post:
[img]http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/sue.ellen/photos/baby/foamers.jpg[/img]

Gives me this result:

To use the photo in my Profile, the address is just inserted in the ""Picture URL" field of the Profile form without the image tags. If I want it in my signature, I insert the address in the Signature field, using the image tags as I would in any other post.

Sorry, I don't have it in another size on my webspace. Besides, if you think 82K is bad, you should see some of the monsters others post! [:)]

It's a problem with railpictures way of showing the image, you need to find the real address of the image, not the one your using.

I'm not sure which image you're trying to show, but if you open the image, then right click on it, then clcik on properties, you'll get the true address to use: like the following:

has a true address of: http://www.railpictures.net/images/s/SP4449-72592.jpg.30550
but the viewing address is : http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=58924

See the difference? Try the links and see what happens. the first is a direct link to the picture, the second is to a webpage with the picture.

But remember these pictures are pretty large and should not be used in signitures, as they'll drown our friends on dial up.
