When you go to train shows regularly you will learn which dealers carry what you like and have the best deals. One of the best ways to get great deals is to find someone who is thinning their collection or changing scales. You can save a lot on like new items. Recently I got a Proto 1000 F3 A & B set in Santa Fe for $25.00. That was for the pair and they were like new in the boxes. Happy hunting.
"I've spent most of my money and time on trains, the rest I've just wasted."
I find the best deal is being able to buy multiple things in one place without paying S&H to 5 different online stores.
Not a bad deal. I've been to a few shows, and you might find a good deal. BUT then you got your people trying to get rich (price wise).
"Rust, whats not to love?"
I went to a train show in Dewey, Oklahoma this morning. I came across a few bargains.
I picked up a set of 3 Walthers Intermodal cars for $24.
I also picked up a 6 car set of Walthers RD-4 coal hoppers in BNSF roadname.
The coal hoppers were on sale at Walthers for $72. I got them for $60.
