What causes this?

Hey there guys

I took apart a Atheran switcher the other day to clean it and when i put it back together i noticed that when it was traveling down the tracks it was kinda rocking slightly and looked like it was bouncing. what causes this???

Are the wheels sets back in gauge? Did you snap the worm gear housing down securely?

I hope you didn't bend the axles[:0]. I dropped my Athearn SD-45 onto the floor, bending all 6 axles[censored]. Needless to say, it lurches and hops when in motion[:(!]. Can't wait until the replacement axles and wheelsets come in, then I'll be able to remedy that.[:D]

Well if it wasn't doing it before you took it apart somthing wasn't put back the way it was. You might have reversed the trucks or as suggested something isn't completely tightened. You might want to take it apart and also drop in an Ernst transmission while it is apart again. It will run a lot slower and smoother and it is a piece of cake with no cutting or filing. Just drop it in the truck.
