I use n scale for these resons you can get a lot in small space, good detail{almost as good as HO},in some places cheaper than HO and well because I love it.[:D][:D]

N scale! [tup] It's the only scale I've ever worked in since I was ten years old. Back then (in the 70’s) it was still a newer scale and the equipment was, well,.. crude. It's a whole different story these days.

I like the scenery to track ratio you can achieve, and running long trains through it. Watching 100 plus car coal drags (with helpers) on a large N-trak layout is pretty impressive too. [^]

I model HO. It's the only economical way to accurately model steam. Of course, if money and space were no object, I'd be in O scale.

Mostly HO but as seasons change so does my scales. In winter I model HO, but in summer I model in Live Steam. I like HO because of the wide variety of equipment available, and Live Steam because nothing beats operating a local with a real steam locomotive.

Ho which seems like a good compromise scale for me. N is too small in gerneral for my liking...and my aging eyeballs! Ho also has the most available.

Having said that, I've got some old N-scale stuff I want to put on a door slab as a running-for-show type layout.

And I would like to have an O-scale shelf/switching layout some day (but not holding my breath!).

TT scale because.. uh.. I'm a masochist?? LOL!
I have HO, but not enough space. N scale is too small to do much except run, IMHO. I like the size of TT, there's not a whole lot available yet but I enjoy a challenge! I've been building resin kits, rebuilding old locomotives and am starting to build from scratch. Always something to do!

It was a toss up between N and HO, and I had to go with N scale due to space.

HO. Cause my passion for steam works right along with the size and products available. Even if I had the space, I wouldn't model O.

S for me. I started in HO moved to O and then back to S. I like working in S because it's 1/3 larger than HO so I can see and handle the pieces more easily. It's 3/4 the size of O so I can get more layout into a given space. I find it's the best compromise. As a bonus, it's a little more reliable than HO. While it doesn't have as much stuff as HO, it is growing.
Enjoy

I used to model in N scale Because you can get alot of action in a small place. But due to the small parts etc. I have switched back to HO. With HO I can handle putting rolling stock together with a lot less hasle & the track is easier to work with also.

HO since that first train set 28 years ago!

I like what N scalers can do with scenery that towers over the trains and mainline operations, but I think if I were to change scales, I'd actually go for S scale, for the extra detailing I could do.

As things stand, I like the compromise between detail and operability that HO gives me.

Z: I continue to think this scale is the future for modellers whose goal is:
-prototypical long trains
-broad curve radius,
and, meanwhile, who don't own an aviation hangar or a full size castel or something like this......
Each month there are more and more available products in this scale.....My favorire store in a big city (Paris, France)sees their sales collapsing in all scales unless in Z scale....Guess why!
