For those of you who have been following along as I make inroads into the creation of the (fictional) New Hampshire Branch of the New York Central. Every few months or so I post some pics of my layout to keep interested parties updated as to what's been going on in my Hershey, Pa. basement. At the moment (as you can see below) I am in the midst of about a dozen or so different projects at once. I never know what I am going to work on on a given day, but as I set foot in the room, I survey the surroundings and settle on something to do at that point! As always, comments and suggestions are certainly welcome. Have a super Memorial Day weekend!

In picture 5 from the top, I noticed a little inlet between two buildings. I have a wonderful idea for it. Why not make it a walking street?

Where does this fictional New Hampshire Branch run? New Hampshire is a given, of course, I'm just wondering of the endpoints. Is it a compltely fictional route, or or is on an actual line?

Thanks for the nice comments guys.  (IVRW...you were reading my mind. That will be just an alleyway; albeit a "nice alley"! LOL)

Tyler: ...well.....ahem; cough,cough..........(I was hoping no-one would ask me this question............). The short answer is = I'm not sure yet! I know what it is not. It is not following a prototypical line and the layout is not designed for prototypical operation. The layout consists of a double level folded dogbone with the lower level  along with two "staging" stub end tracks hidden from view. The concept is just to run trains and switch various small industries and a very small yard along the way. It also has a very small engine terminal. There will be an interchange (some year) with the Boston & Maine across the room via a liftup section that will lead to a big B&M freight yard and docks on the other side of the room. The B&M will have trackage rights over the line to Boston, MA. (lower level). The city and town on the main layout are as of now unnamed. As my fictional "story" grows with the layout; the NYC maintained a small, cheaply maintained branch from Boston to SE New Hampshire. I've always been a fan of the NYC and I've always loved New England autumn scenery, so I thought the two should go hand in hand...anyhow, my line of thought has been >If John Allen can have a Stegasaurus switching rollingstock, my concept can't be that far off!<   Someday I'de love to have a layout that follows a prototype and can be operated "correctly", but that will come in time! In the meantime I'm busy honing scenery and structure skills and in the nearer future will be delving into the DCC technology and will be using this layout to test everything I've learned. That's really impressive!  Bow  Keep us posted on the progress.  I especially like your use of the Walthers coaling and sanding facilities for your steamers.  I think they're great structures.  Here's how I used mine on my Rio Grande Yuba River Sub: 

I like your overall photos very much.  Keep up the good work.  Can't wait to see what you do with the hill.

Thank you Tom! And "uncbob"; your layout is looking very nice also! It's nice to be able to share view other"s work here. It's also nice that it can be done in an atmosphere of sharing as opposed to bragging! Some other forums I've been on seem to have an abundance of boasters and rivit counters. 99% of all the criticism I've seen at Trains.com has been constructive and done in an atmosphere that assists and lifts up as opposed to discourages and tears down others.

   WOW...Blush    Thank you as well! I wasn't quite expecting this amount of response! Tyler; I will think about it and get back to you at a later date. And "Allegheny: It's been under construction since approx. December of '07 or January of '08. I can't recall which at the moment. Here's one of the 1st pics from then:

I noticed you have the Cornerstone ice house and platform.  I have one as well and put together two platforms to give it some more length.  As the house will be a few feet from the observer (my new layout is also under construction), I was thinking of slicing off a couple of inches of the ice house depth so it doesn't take up so much space.  Being in the background somewhat, I think I can pull it off so it will be unnoticed.

Hey, keep the pictures coming.  There is nothing that stirs the "layout building juices" like seeing pictures of someone else's accomplishments!

Thank you sir! Yes, that ice house is a nice kit. Mine needs details and weathering yet to be considered finished. Just one of the gazillion little projects underway!
