Soundtraxx TSU-AT1000 567 with a speaker baffel would be a great choice.

Thanks, David.  When I posted the question I was under the impression that the prototype I was trying to capture --T&NO in Texas-- ran the F3As as solo power in many instances.  Later that day I got a copy of McLennan's T&NO book I had ordered and the photos all show at least A-B lashups and in some cases A-B-B-A power.  That being the case, it seems the Proto A-B set may be a better choice.

Thanks for the advice on the Genesis A and decoder.  I'll file that away.

F3A with DCC
Posted by mreagant on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 4:15 PM

I'm looking for an SP Black Widow F3 (A or A&B) and I seem to be down to either an A unit Genesis which is not DCC, and maybe not even DCC ready since it is one of the first F3s released in the Genesis line about 8 years ago, or the new P2K which is A&B.

I'd appreciate any thoughts regarding value for the dollar (features, detail, etc.) as well as any advice regarding doing a DCC sound install on the Genesis.  I know Bowser/Stewart makes a DCC + sound chassis which will fit a Genesis shell, but I don't seem to be able to find any.

Thanks.
