Hello "CNJ,"

Nice job on the cement hopper! I don't know what happened to that video tour of the MR&T, only that it isn't on our site any more. I'll have to ask about that myself.

So long,

Andy

How is the new MR&T coming along?  Haven't heard too much about it lately.

Kevin

Whether you realize it or not, you've actually read a lot about the MR&T lately if you are a regular reader of MR.  Most of Cody Grivno's Step by Step article series are based on MR&T layout projects.  The January and February 2008 issues included a two-part Step by Step article showing how they built the Milwaukee Harbor scene on the MR&T.  In fact, the Feb. issue even had a photo from that project on the front cover.

Tom

Actually realized that this morning when I was on my way to work.  I guess what I meant was more of wanting to see more of the overview of the entire layout (kind of like the 1989 article that Andy had mentioned), although I do enjoy the project articles.

Andy - A few years back I recall that for a while on the opening page of the MR portion of this site there was a button you could click on that took you on a brief video or photo tour of the MR&T. Has any copy of that tour survived? I know changes have been made to the layout since, but being a longtime fan of the MR&T (I've even replicated some of MR&T's locos and rolling stock - see below), as I am sure are many others here, it would be great to see this tour again. If it still exists, is there any possibility of making it available on-line once more?

Dr.Phil

Does anyone know if this still is available or has it been replaced/torn down or whatever? P.S. I am new to this forum and if you what a small look at the start of my layout, my web page is   Bisbee Rock & Western   I do have more done on it but need to update the site in the next few days. Thanks: DR. Phil

Hi "Dr. Phil,"

Our old MR&T track plan was last shown in the December 1989 Model Railroader, on page 87. (Most of it is also included on page 85 of my book, The Model Railroader's Guide to Freight Yards, from Kalmbach Books.) The old MR&T plan isn't in our online track plan database because it was never converted into an electronic file. However, you can order a photocopy of Jim Kelly's article "Meet the MR&T," pages 84-93 in that issue, either on this Web site or by e-mail to customerservice@kalmbach.com.

The layout itself had to be dismantled when we moved to our current offices in July 1989. My track plan for a new MR&T, which we've since constructed in the new building, is also included in that December '89 article.

Thanks for your interest in our layout,

Andy
