If your talking about Northlandz I can best sum it up as model railroaidng mass confusion. I've been there many times and still can't for the life of me figure out his ryme or reason. We all talk about track plans and the prototype. I think his plan was to stuff in as many trains as the building could hold and then give it a good shove and put some more in. It's impressive just by it's sheer size I guess but it's a nightmare barely under controlled in my O/P. I believe he has now switched over to DCC if you check out any of MRC newer adds.
i saw it on one of those how-to demo videos that MR sends you, then demands you pay them or send it back. In the video, one of the scenes, there was a guy standing in a model canyon at least 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide.In another scene, the control room appeared to have dozens of power packs. it appeared to fill at least a warehouse.
Sir Madog ... be my guest! Yes, it is worth it and I live only a 30- minute train ride away from it!The beer´s on me, pal!

The beer´s on me, pal!
Man don't tempt me, some how as understanding as my wife is with my hobby that may be just pushing it a little
That would be worth flying to Germany just to see that drink a few German beers and come home

I'm not sure if we will ever really know what the worlds biggest MRR layout is. There are a number of large public layouts to compare, but I'm certain there are a number of very large private layouts that intentionally keep a low profile. The owners don't likely want the publicity nor feel the need to prove anything to anyone.
There must be at least a dozen layouts claiming to be the biggest in the world. Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg also claims to be the biggest, but even if it isn´t the biggest, it is most impressive!
Here are some stats:
7,300,000
Should you travel to Hamburg, make sure to go there.
analog kidi think there is one here in the States that is bigger but i forget the name and where.

Probably thinking of Northlandz, which is near Trenton, NJ. As it happens, I drove by it on Sunday, didn't stop in, too nice a day to spend that much time inside, but I went there with my boys quite a few years back. Looked like it was open, but the place's website hasn't been updated in ages.
Anyhow, it claims to be the world's largest. Haven't been to the one in Europe, so I can't compare. But I can say it's pretty darn big; you walk through all these galleries with huge scenes of all different areas. Not for the purist, I must say.
The Guinness Book of World Records use to list Train Mountain as the worlds largest Model Railroad 7.5 in. gage and cover 1600 acres in Southern Oregon. http://www.trainmountain.org
Yes, it is - but even if it weren´t - it be worthwile visiting. But beware, it is more of a miniature world than just a model railroad - trains are just a part of it. So do not expect prototypical operation, but expect a work of art!
I can tell, I live only a 30 minute´s drive away from it!
beaulieu Is this the world's largest model railroading layout?Miniatur Wunderland

Miniatur Wunderland
It must be, 'cause is this now the third thread on the same subject within the last week or so.
I liked the film feature on the youngest Playboy model myself!
From the far, far reaches of the wild, wild west I am: rtpoteet
Even if it is not the largest, it certainly is fascinating!
Should we ever get to Germany, we will be sure to stop by.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
