I have been trying to get parts from Athearn for the last several months. I was finally told last week that the person who does parts only comes in once a month. I have all the emails to back this up. Is anyone having better luck ordering and receiving parts from Athearn ?? Sal M.

wow I must have been lucky then because I actually got to talk to the infamous parts person but of course they didn't make the parts anymore. My LHS couldn't get the parts a while back. They seem to be lacking at getting parts back. THey said they would get in touch with me and I haven't gotten a call or an E-mail. I ended up superglue the part. back together because I don't want to wait till next christmas for my part to be made again. By then the car will be placed in a box and never to been seen again or worse yet used for parts.

Athearn produces parts in batches so during certain time peiords parts may be hard to come by. When the LHS receives parts and puts them in stock,
"Woosh!
[:0] They're gone!
It was 20 years before I finally got 3 underframes for Athearn BB 57ft. Mechanical Reefers. (Yes, I got to the point where I checked every few years!)
In 2003, I was able to get these directly from Athearn after e-mailing them. I promptly I mailed them a check.
It's not just Athearn..... but quite a number of the manufacturers produce parts in batches.
We have to face it....................The good old days (1970s for me) of walking into an LHS and finding a rack or bin
JAMMED FULL
of Athearn replacment parts are gone forever, sad to say!
10-4!
"
I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"
