The main reason I have so many Kato and Tomix products is that I live in Japan, and that's mostly what they sell in the LHS's here. It's possible to find some of the American and European brands, but they're usually much more expensive. I don't have very many locomotives, but my favorite is the Kato "Dash 9" in BNSF colors. Sometimes, just for fun, I use it to pull long trains of whatever cars I can put together. What a gem[:)] Another reason is that (I think) only the Japanese companies make models of the prototype steamers that ran in Japan.

It did! In fact, the late afternoon sun was the only light source I used for this and a couple other photos. That's the only lighting equipment I have except for ceiling lights (one fluorescent and one incandescent). Messes up the white balance really bad[sigh]

Workin' on it. Need to provide some magazine quality photos and come up with a story line. Any suggestions? (about the story line) In the meantime, DDW is going to be featured in one of the major Japanese N gauge annuals; it will be published in September. Two guys came and took about a thousand pictures, and I'm hoping to send some of those to MR when I get copies. Can't wait to see it. Won't be able to read a word of it, but I have been studying and can now recognize the words "stupid" and "dork" and "too much weathering!" Should be no problem[:)]

I ordered a backdrop from www.backdropwarehouse.com and used carpet tape to stick it to paper-reinforced styrofoam sheet. I'm not sure what it's called, but you can buy it large sheets. The backdrops are detachable, of course, and slide into brackets mounted on the back and sides of the tables.
