Need help on an installation problem.
1. Trains pause and restart when switch machine button is depressed.
2.symmetrical crossover switches work only on one way.

Question 1 can be one of three things; A) you have the switch motors hooked-up to the same terminals on your power pack as the track (incorrect). Your switch machines should run off of the "fixed" AC or DC terminals (according to the instructions that came with the switches.) The track should be hooked to the "variable" terminals. B) let's assume that you have everything hooked-up correctly, if the same problem is occuring, you could be "pulling the transformer down" by having too many engines and accessories running at the same time. If so, a second pack is suggested to split the load. Since you mention crossovers, you probably have dual track main. Definately run separate packs on each main. C) your transformer inside the power pack is dying, and can no longer maintain constant voltage. Remedy: replace the power pack. For the second question, I need more information. What kind of switches, how are they wired into the track, do you have isolated gaps in the rails? Are the trains stalling or shorting? Robert

I can definatly say that "1" is becuase of an weak transformer. I used a "standard" bachmann transformer for my first layout and got the same results
