A day at the lumber mill
Posted by cwclark on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 9:13 PM

The local gets train orders from the dispatcher to drop a boxcar at the lumbermill. A GE B30-7 will stop to switch just past the gravel road.

The switchman is hard at work.

The train leaves the main for the lumbermill with it's load.

The train spots its load at the loading platform.

The consisted EMD SD 40 slowely helps push the boxcar into position. That's it! The brakeman gives the engineer an "all stop" hand signal.

The end of a succesful spot. From the caboose, the brakeman waves good-bye to the camera man

What a very neat little story. What will you think of next, the yardmasters morning dealing with the crabby coffee deficient engineers? LOL!!!!

I have to agree with Ryan - would make a neat video segment.

I love your ground cover - the "weeds" look great.

That might be a bit too tough to video without the brakeman looking and moving too much like those old "Gumby" cartoons. Of course I guess I could put him in one of those "Sir Toppum Hat" poses from "Thomas the Tank Engine"   There's nothing like the animation of a big fat guy stealing a scene standing there motionless and staring into space.   Some things are just too tough to accurately prototype....   :)    chuck

Chuck, great little story and great modeling. Great looking locos. And of course, the boxcar doesn't have a half-bad name on it either Tongue (here's a hint ya'll; The packers are located in what city? Big Smile )

I'll have to look at this at home.

Shutterfly pics don't function here at work.

I guess you've never seen a Conrail worker then

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?
