I started a laser kit, a country market. It is n-scale, so the tomatoes will be tiny for sure! I had earlier thought I might finish it up by now, but there was a certain football game that kept me out of the train room a few hours tonight.
(The photo is just a quick snapshot with a cellphone. I'll take a picture when its done with my good camera.)

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Aha! I forgot to be suspicious of ANYthing in a photograph, nowadays...having heard of just how much malarkey can be done with internet tools.
I never did hear, though, of the outcome of the investigation into that Lee Harvey Oswald photo of him holding a gun and newspaper up, as if posing for an incriminating shot....the shadow his chin made, was different from the angle of the sun in the rest of the shot. They lacked the technology back then, that would have made for a better version any 11 year old could whip out, today.
All honesty, I figured on that, or Photoshop. the shadows, and the brick was too real.

I hate to burst bubbles but that is not real. there is no rust on the railheads which means they would have had to have built it after the last passing train, plus the rail spikes don't look right.
Could you post a slightly wider shot so we can see how you've placed the tell-tales?

You need three things to make it happen plus programming.
1) Pkg. Details West RB-106 "Rotary Beacon"
2) Pkg. Miniatronics # 18-C03-10 1.5v 30ma 1.2mm BULBS
3) Pkg. 330ohm 1/4 watt resistors you can buy at Radio Shack
I've found that you have to use this specific resistor for these lamps. Too high or too low a resistance just doesn't cut it.
On the DA-SR output 3 Do not cut the link, just leave it alone. Put the resistor in series with the C output. Change CV122 to a value of 20 or whatever lighting effect you want on the decoder. NCE offers you tons of choices. Its fun to check them all out.
Thats it. I use a rechargable solder iron, but you can use any iron that has a small pencil tip on it. I've installed at least half dozen engines this way. It really makes them come to life.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
After the train passed on the main I saw this neat little building so I grabbed a quick shot. Looks like the car-men are hard at work on their coffee break.
This building is a kitbash of the JL innovations Trakside Jamboree. When it is on its permenat home it will be the caboose supply and shanty. I plan on having the room under the metal roof fully detailed but I need to first finish up the final details on the outside of the building. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Here's my latest locomotive addition to my ever growing fleet of diesels. Its an HO Atlas GP-40 ebay special for only $49.95. Quite a steal. I added an NCE DA-SR DCC decoder and along with that, a working strobe and new horn.

I knew it wouldn't be anything simple. I have tried to put smoke in a couple of photos with a basic copy of PhotoShop, but the results are always less than pleasing. As complicated as it sounds, Jerrel did a wonderful job for you.

You have a very nice set-up there, and the Challenger looks marvellous! I like your crossing and the trees!
Thanks for your question and compliment. The smoke was lifted from an earlier image of the same Mallet done a year ago. It was provided by RRCanuck. Jarrell resized it, did some cropping and added it for me...way beyond my skills, and I don't have the software. Jarrell would have done some colour altering to my original, cropped out items visible that are not part of the layout, maybe sharpened it...not sure...and added the nice border to give a depth look to it.

Building a protolanced industrial park layout
Lot of cool pics! I realy like those night scenes.
Did some work on my concrete State Hiway, MO 47. Still need to add stripes & more signs.
My contribution to WPF is a few "under construction" photos.
Pictured below is the curve and bridge crossing at Deer Creek. The end result should be an image of a railroad hugging a ledge between a steep rock wall and a drop off into a trackside creek. The track crosses the creek and enters a tunnel through the ridge.
Once through the tunnel, the train emerges at Tucker Hollow. Tucker Hollow is a small "spot in the road" consisting of an abandoned depot, an old water tower, and a very small pulpwood siding.

This is an Air slide Center Flow (ACF) Kansas City Southern (KCS) hopper #315320 and it is my first attempt at weathering using acrylics, enamels, Bragdon weathering powders and Testors Dullcoat. This is an Accurail kit and this was about 4 hours of work from the initial putting together of the kit to finishing up the weathering details.

Zachary was running his Athearn UP Challenger at the head of an "excursion" train for his little brother when I took this shot. UP #3985 is approaching the RR Crossing near the Farmer's Union Elevator on the BRVRR,

Nice work Terry. Here's a similar station at Hawks Nest, kitbashed from a kit sold by the COHS. The added section is based upon known dimensions and photos.- as is the weathering.

SOO_N ScalerGreat work all! I like going to all the different forums to see all the quality work being done. Since I model the late 80's in Wisconsin and having the SOO as my major road, it is only fitting that I have some Milwaukee Road power painted into bandits. Now mind you I still have units that are in the orginal Milwaukee Road paint. If ya'll knew how much trouble these were. First,,,, I thinned the paint to much and it just ran under the tamiya masking tape I used. So I had to get ELO and alchol out to scrub the shells. I was so worried that I ruined 3 atlas and 1 kato shells. But they came out ok. So after about two weeks, I got the nerve to try again. I washed the shells, applied the masking again. Burnished the edges of the tape. I brushed on a real thin coat of paint on the masking as to seal them from the main paint from the airbrush. And to the garage/workshop/train room to paint. Just some black,, oh that is easy,, well it was and it was'nt. I got the decals from Highball Graphics.. After all the trouble I went through with the paint bleeding under the tape.. I think they came out ok.I still have to do the number boards,, and paint the end railings on the 40-2 white,,, but i could just put them back on thier frames and run them. Maybe I will make my mind,,,, some day. And there you have it. 2015 was a set of numbers already in line, as where the numbers for the 40-2. The other 2 40's were just pairs,, the 20's were seprate and 59 and 43 were also. Boy the number boards are going to be fun. Adios Wyatt

I model the SooLine in as well 1995. Those are great looking engines aren't they. I cheated and bought a BLI Paragon HO Bandit SD40-2 and painted out the lease name and decaled it with the SOO livery. I also bought an Athearn Genesis MP15AC already in the Bandit Scheme. I think they look great. I remember the Milwaukee Road as a kid in the Quad Cities, but in 1986 or abouts the Soo Line bought the line here and I liked their color scheme better so that's what I model.
