Hello!!

I am modeling the Pittsburgh & Ohio Railroad

not so free lance.... the area from Pittsburgh to Cleveland modeling actual locales from the era of the early 70's thru present...major industries are: coal, iron ore, coke, limestone, and steel making.

This railroad existed alongside with Conrail, CSX, and Norfolk Southern. To read more on its history go to http://www.pittsburghandohiorailroad.com/history.html

I model an interchange of five railroads. The CNW, SP,BNSF, my modern Rock Island and a fictional shortline that serves a small town with some industries called SCD or the Sliver Creeek Division. The SCD is also the first letter of each of my three kids.

I model the Winchester, Paston, & Portsmouth, a fictional Virginia short line which struggled and was ultimately absorbed into the Norfolk & Western; I model it circa 1971, four years after merger. I combine freelancing with sincere prototype research this way. Other prominent roads on my rails are the B&O, Pennsy, Southern, and Western Maryland. A very close approximation of the fictional WP&P is the real-life Virginian, though the WP&P mainline was mostly north-south across the state.

I am in the planning stage but will model mainly the Burlington Route, and maybe later the Santa Fe, Great Northern, and Northern Pacific.

I freelance design and operation, but I model Southern/C&O/Chessie/Clinchfield engines and cabs. Some from the '60s, and some from the '80s.

I'm modelling the Union Pacific during the mid 60's located in northern Utah.

The layout is an L configuration, measuring 10' X 14'. The short leg of the L has a rail fan scene that closely matches a section of Echo Canyon with twin truss bridges and a curve into twin tunnel entrances.

The Long leg of the L incorporates and freelance operations area with a stock pen and meat packing facilities as well as a small icing platform for refers and a depot with a speeder shed.

All the track is layed and tested, all of the mountains are in place and have color and folliage. Getting ready to start ballasting.

I model the early 50's era when Route 66 was at it's finest. Here in Arizona, Route 66 runs through northern part of the state. As a Route 66 enthusiast I named my railroad Double Six Northern. It is a freelanced layout using ATSF as my freight hauler and have an SP Daylight for passenger service, the buildings and scenery will be Route 66 theme.

I model the Northern Pacific in the early 1950s. The localle is near Butte Montana, on what was called the Butte Shortline of the N.P. The scenery is freelanced, but very mountainous and looks more like the Yellowstone Park area. I also freelance a logging and mining line.

The Tug Hill & Northern uses a long defunct RR (Redfield and Williamstown), and a slightly altered (and long since abandoned) Rome, Watertown & Ogdensburg line (Rome to Richland) as a basis for a line to provide service to the Tug Hill region of northern NY. The Plateau subdivision handles some lumber, a little maple syrup, and plenty of people taking advantage of the recreational possibilities the area offers.

In short, a free-lanced line serving a "real" locale. All of the town names are real, and some were once served by rail (the Glenfield & Western). TH&N connects with the Gee Whiz "on the hill."

I'm modeling the Nickel Plate ROad's mainline between Bloomington and Peoria, Illinois, circa 1950 (big steam, baby!). I'm also modeling the major interchange roads along that mainline, with live interchanges with the IC (steam), GM&O (diesel), P&E (steam), ATSF (diesel), TP&W (diesel) and PRR (steam). In Peoria, the NKP hands off their trains to the P&PU (steam and diesel), which is the Peoria area's belt line road. The P&PU interchanges with the Rock Island (steam & diesel), M&StL (diesel), C&NW (steam) and CB&Q (steam). If I have the space (the layout, a 12x25 three level), I'll squeeze in parts if the Illinois Terminal too (traction).

I am modelling a freelance layout with some specific scenes based in reality. For example I am in the process of creating an accurate kit bashed moel of Mine number 15 in White City, Illinois. This is where my wife's grandfather was killed in the late 1930's. The mine head no longer exists, but I have many pictures of it to work from. Many of the other bulidings are still standing so I have been able to get a good idea of the spatial relationship of them and some of the destinctive architectural features. My roster is mainly CB&Q and Wabash.

I model the C&O in a fictional scene of Southern Ohio and Northern WV during 1960 moving coal from the mines with a few extra indutries to boot. Passenger service is also in the layout. My roster is 96% GP7's and 9's. There is some B&O motive power in the scene as well.
