Okay Brit and Sam,
I'll give the #47 a shot, although, I'm also wondering if i'm putting the coupler pockets in upside down... I don't know if thats possible to do, but before I make the 60 mile round-trip to my LHS, I'll see if the pockets can be flipped over... Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a good close-up shot of the loco end to make sure I installed them properly...
Rey.

Hello Rey
The SW-9 that we converted used a #5 coupler and it came out at the correct height.
Unfortunately, there are variations in manufacturing and assembly that the individual modeler has to deal with if our information does not match your particular model.
So if the #5 coupler is too low on your model then try the offset #47 coupler as suggested by "Brit" or if you can not find a 47 at your local hobby shop then use a #27 or a #37 with a #5 type of centering spring. The #27, #37, and #47 are underset medium length shank couplers that raises the coupler head about .050" higher than the centerset shank #5.
Best regards, Sam

Brit, the Kadee site is a great resource... I never knew about it. Thanks!
Interestingly enough, though, it recommends the #5 still...
Any other advice???

Best advice I can offer is to take a look at the Kadee website ( www.kadee.com ), they have a list of what fits what. I'd suggest you look at the #47 as an alternative coupler for this loco, as the coupler head is offset upwards by an amount that corresponds with your description of the problem. There is also the #27, which is identical but has a plastic shaft (I'd stick with the #40 series as they are more robust).

Please give me guidance on this!!!
I installed Kadee #5s on this Loco and the coupler is so low, the pin just about drags... It seems to be half the knuckle height low.
Has any one else had this problem, and if so, what coupler did you use to remedy?
I want to stay with the #5 sized knuckle, BTW
Thanks ahead of time!!!!
