A question for one of you Board smart Guys
How does this "Favorite" feature work here?
Thanks
Buggy
Thanks for the welcome and suggestion Lou. My vision loss (I have RP) is more of a range problem and then throw in the old age need of glasses. I was going to see if any of the members might have some suggestions for zoom glasses.
As for the scale, I had bought a copy of the "Getting Started in the Hobby" book by Model Railroader (which is how I found this board) and seen the S scale model. But I'm leary of starting out with a non popular scale which put me back at the HO scale.
Right now I'm seeing stuff at Hobby Lobby which my DW like to go to all the time.
Welcome to the forums buggyman!! http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/95.aspx is the toy train section of the MR forums. You mentioned that you are legally blind, as is my wife. You would probably be more comfortable with O scale/Lionel trains for a couple of reasons. First, the scle is 1/48, which is better than the HO 1/87 and N 1/160 scale most of the folks use here. I mention the Lionel because it's sturdy enough for young hands, who aren't always the most gentle. If vision is more of a concern, the G scale boys like their 1/24 or 1/22 or whatever (they have multiple scales that run on G scale track). The G scale may also be of interest to you living in FLA, as it is commonly used in "Garden Railroads" There is also a forum under the Trains listing for that. I hope the larger type makes this a little easier for you. Again, welcome!!
By the way.. if one of the moderators want to move this to the proper place then feel free to fo so., I wasn't sure if I posted in the right room and I apologize in advance.
We're chasing each other around the boards I found it and just posted there,
Thanks agin Luke
Buggy, here's a link: http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/t/139519.aspx?PageIndex=176 In the future, the Diner is just a thread in this section of the forums.

Might as well get this "Newbie" stuff out of the way.
I registered myself under the user name Of Buggyman because it's been my online screen name for years.
Of late, my interest has been picking up on Model Trains as a Hobby. I consider myself someone who is gifted with being able to build just about anything. I just built my grandsons a table for their GEO track train (they are still young) and I plan to get them interested in the Model Train Hobby.
So.. I start from scratch.
Now.. a little info.
I live in Jacksonville Florida.
I'm a 56 year old male.
I have three Grandsons still in the younger child age (wrecking age)
I'm considered legally blind (a big factor in which scale I go with)
Anyway.. Let me go browse around here and see if I can get lost.
Let me hear from you.
