I don't know where you guys live or where your layout is, but I'm just not understanding the need for rail cleaning gizmos.

My layout's in the basement -- along with my dust-producing workshop in the same room. I've built two of the "John Allen-type" boxcars with sliding Masonite pads on the bottom. I run one of those around the track a few times once a week and never have any problems. And the thing cost me $0 to build!

Gerry, good question. Minds in the basement too
and I can reach 90% of my layout. I have notice
four most repeated questions on these forums are
clean track-wheels, couplers, DCC and wheel sets so when I stumble onto these subjects I catalog it and pass them on.
