Curious-
what type of track do youhave?
Is it steel, brass, nickel silver?

Mark, I stumble all the time over these ideas. With Goo Gone you have to immediately wipe off which is a double procedure, so I use the rubbing alcohol which is less odor offensive in doors. I do use the denatured with a Q tip in removing painted letters from freight cars.

I recently purchased a Centreline track cleaning car and though it wasn't cheap it appears to work. I used Goo Gone as they recomend and was surprised to see it leaves an oily film. I then tried some remote control cleaner which I purchased from Radio Shack and some of the film came up. I stumbled onto a web site, which I've since lost, but they recommend denatured alcohol which I plan on trying next.

You will receive a number of recommendations from other members but first & foremost its manatory to have clean wheels on your diesel/steamer to pick
optimum electrical current. You may wi***o go to the following site www.centerline-products.com and review their product line. I use rubbing alcohol as a cleaner for my track, engines and all-freight and passenger wheels. Trains.com may have a procedure in their archives.

I get very fruatrated when nothing seems to run . Help!!!! Does anyone know of any good track cleaning cars??? or other means of keeping track clean. Don L. Rochester,NY
