Call them and ask. Google is your friend, it took about 15 seconds to find this.

The last time I spoke with Jack(May), he wanted to 'retire'. I suspect he is looking for a buyer, but with all that inventory and a bad economy - it may take time.

I tried calling but got no answer , thats why I asked...........Google don't know everything
I was in Duluth about a month ago. Of the two hobby shops listed, one was closed for good, and the other was closed for the day. Since they're both on the same side of town, I couldn't tell you which one was which. I guess that doesn't really help you does it!
I went thru Duluth yesterday and wanted to stop in but didn't know where they were located so I tried 411 on my cell (cingular) and they couldn't find the number. So I tried the Onstar phone in my truck (verizon) and they couldn't find it either. Thats why I ask

Well you didn't mention that.........my bad.
I hope they're still open, been around a long long time. I think they're also the last Minnesota hobby shop listed in MR's list of hobby retailers in the latest issue. (Although I see RMC doesn't have any MN hobby shops listed anymore in their retailer directory.)
Over the years I have had good service in a couple of Minnesota Hobby Shops.
I believe one was called the "HUB" in "Little Canada" on the road out to Stillwater.
And the other was Moon's in Rochester. Great selection and volume in both places.

I attended the NMRA Thousand Lakes Region convention in Duluth last May and they were open then.
Carr's is on the north side of Superior Street just past 20th Avenue West in what's known as Duluth's West End. I live just around the corner from them and usually walk down there, as it's only 2-3 blocks from my current home. They're open regular business hours, Monday through Saturday and may have Sunday hours during the Christmas season. The phone number is (218) 722-7129.
Hint: don't wear a bulky winter jacket; the store has a really big stock!

Both HUB stores are still there, but they have really reduced their train inventory - Still lots of R/C stuff.
Moons in Rochester was sold over 10 years ago, and became Hendy's Hobby. Rick Henderson passed away a few years ago and the store is now gone. He had a very good inventory and would order anything. We just got a new store last year(Everything Hobbies). It is owned by the same guy who owns the R/C race track south of town and mainly has R/C stuff. He will order train stuff and does carry some inventory. The options for model train stuff in Rochester are limited:
And folk wonder why there is so much Internet ordering! If you do not live in a large metro area, chances are that most of your purchasing will be at train shows or mail order...

As mentioned there are two Hub Hobbies, one in Little Canada (yes it's a city) north of St.Paul and the other is in Richfield, south of Minneapolis. I drop by both a couple times a year; seems to me the Richfield one has more railroad stuff than the LC one.
FWIW the first Hub Hobby was in Richfield in the Hub Shopping Center, I started going there in the mid-sixties. The Little Canada one came later. Eventually the rent got too high in the Hub and they kinda split...Hub Hobbies moved about a mile west from the Hub and a couple of guys split off and started a new hobby shop a mile or two east of the Hub called Hobby Depot IIRC. Hobby Depot lost their lease and went OOB about 10 years ago.
Of course the top Mpls-St.Paul hobby shop was probably Woodcraft Hobby on Lake and Bryant in south Minneapolis. It started before WW2, and for many years sponsored a 15 minute Saturday TV show.
BTW kinda off subject, but if you're a football fan, several prominent college and pro football players played for Holy Angels Academy in Richfield, across 66th st. from the Hub Shopping Center.
Yup, Jack still has the place open.

Grew up with Carr's Hobby in Duluth, MN. Marty Carr, the original founder, taught me to repair trains and his son Jack has run the shop for years. I am in there several times per week. To say the inventory is unique is an understatement. NO OTHER HOBBY SHOP in Minnesota can hold a candle to it. Everything from old brass to modern items. If you could visit one hobby shop in Minnesota this should be it. No other shop I know of has the feel of walking through this historic shop. Jack is not there at all times but he does has an employee named Greg who is extremely helpful and knowledgeble. Call them up if you're looking for something special. Better yet, make a trip there. It's worth it!
Haven't been there for quite a while, but when I did visit family in Duluth, I always stopped at Carr's. Great place, friendly folks and lotsa inventory.
