Ok, for the final time, Athearn is not stopping production of the Blue Box kits.

Here's proof

I hope this stops all the bs about Athearn & the blue box kits

Agreed!

I am a little frustrated that my LHS (Happy Hobo Trains) ordered Athearn parts for me and my wife's cousin back in January. We're still waiting! I'm glad Athearn Blue Boxes will be around for a while but I sure miss the days when you could walk in to most model railroad shops, and the bins or shelves would be "overstocked" with Athearn parts.

I thought about ordering but I don't reli***he idea of paying $5 for shipping when the parts I need total $3 !!

I'll "zip" them an e-mail and ask Athearn about their status on replacement parts. Hopefully I'll receive good news.

Dougal, Athearn won't make all the Kits in one year.

BTW:

I had also forgotten to mention that another reason that I like going to Train Shows or Swap Meets so much is that I can often find athearns that may be in "ready for the junk pile condition" for just a few dollars. What I'm actually after is the PARTS! So I wind up with extra handrail stanchions, number boards, truck side frames, etc. that may come in handy sooner or later. [;)]

I'm still kicking myself in the "keester" [:0][*^_^*] because I was at a train show back in February and I decided not to purchase a used HO Athearn FP45 for just a few dollars. I needed the number boards and the cab windshield which I assumed I could easily find. Now I can't find in any LHS in Tampa!

I've learned my lesson! [8)][B)][:)][:D]

I am still stocking on coupler covers, wheel bolts, screws etc so I can maintain my athearn collection for years to come.

Virtually ALL of my railcars are being converted to P2k metal wheels at this time.

I am still buying Athearn Flat cars and box cars. With Microscale decals and some detail parts they come out nicely.

Antonio you maybe able to find the item on eBay. There has to be a bunch of those.

Good Luck all!
