undertable manual turnout controls
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 27, 2004 6:40 PM
I have read article in May 2003 MR, which refers to article in May 1985 MR regarding under table manjual turnout controls. Does anyone have May 1985 article? I like the idea in May 2003 (simple) but it seems that something with a heavier spring load would be better. Does anyone have any experience with this?

No, but I'm tinkering with the idea that this would be a good fix for my yard/engine terminal. There has been several good articles over the past several years on manual switches and how they were incorporated on the Mauee route. I'll have to do some digging fo these articles

bjpmtravis, fergie, and others, this is not an answer to your question, bj, but Iv'e been toying with my own ideas about under table manual turnout controls. Along with model railroading I've also been into R/C airplane building and flying. From my experience with installing control surface controls with push-pull rods, and pull-pull cables, I think I'll be able to be able to control my turnouts and turnout indicator signals and lights a little cheaper and better than some of the methods discribed in magazines. When I'm finished with it and have tested it, I'll try to have it published for all to see and use. This is not to say other means are not good, I'm just saying I "think" I have a better and cheaper way of doing it.

I look forward to your results. A year ago I had to figure a way to work a double "X" cross over on my main line with a single switch machine. After thinking about it, I used model aircraft clevices, ball joints, folcrums and pushrods. Works well[:D]
