im just wondering if anyone models with very early trains like stevensons rocket or anything from that time

I saw a live steam model like that once, 1" scale and the guy who owned it rode behind it. It was powered by bottled gas, because it was so small.

I haven't seen anyone really get serious with any modeling of that early a period. Face it those things arent that much fun, they have little detail, they don't pull much, the real ones didn't have much track to run on and they are difficult to motorize.

Bachmann made one over 20 years ago, I don't know if they still do, but it was a poor runner back then.
