Slip Cases

What would it take to convince Kalmbach Publishing to produce slip cases for storage of their Model Railroader magazine?
And also, what would I do with my 12 separate issues of MR, if I were to buy the bound volumes next year? In the 30's and 40's one could return the 12 and they would be bound in a unit, for about a buck!

You could take your mags to a printer, one that publishes books, and have them bound. We're a couple years beyond the 30's and 40's so the cost is somewhat more. [:D]

I agree with you. Slip cases are one place where Railroad Model Craftsman is ahead of Model Railroader. The cases were/are made by another company (Jesse Jones ?)but match RMC's binders. It's a lot easier to slip one issue into or out of a slip case than to get one issue out of a binder.

Snake - you have already missed the boat, and besides it is a private company so no stock is available. Lee Valley started as a mail order woodworking tool business, and has expanded to a (not so) small empire of woodworking and gardening tools stores, ebusiness and mail order. They also have Veritas, their woodworking tool making division that also now makes precision surgical instruments. They also have stores in most major Canadian cities now.

Truly a remarkable business. The founder (Leonard Lee) and his family (son Robin now runs the business) are sure to be millionaires several times over by now.
