Fleischmann locomotives are "ordinary" DC engines. You can run them with all kind of standard US DC equipment.

If it's ok for LifeLike it's ok for Fleischmann tooSmile

Yes you can buy a transformer to step up the 110 to 220.  I don't recall where I saw it, but search online.  It's probably easier to just buy an MRC pack and use it - since the voltage is varied to control speed, using 12 volts vice 14 volts just means the top speed is a little slower.  I have used my Fleischmann 220v pack on 110v, you just get half the voltage on the output.

Enjoy

Ah yes the Scintilla Power Pilot.  Scintilla was a very respected make in its day and until just a few years ago I had an old Scintilla that was still giving very good service.  What killed it was a fellow who convinced me he could add pulse power to it ....

Hi: I have a Fleischmann train set, my first, from when I was a teen in the 50's. It came with a Power Pilot by Scintilla, rated 115 V, 60 cycle with DC 0-18 V for trains, AC 22 V for accessories. Hope this helps.

Fleischmann trains were sold in America and were run on normal 12 volt DC from American power packs.  Their ad in the October 1959 Model Railroader says "Attention All 'HO' Railroaders -- Flesichmann locos, cars, super track, switches and other accessories will interchange freely with all other makes of HO equipment.  Ask your dealer."

I think any good quality power pack such as Model Rectifier that puts out 12 volt DC should be just fine with these trains.

1970's Fleischmann power/transformer questions
Posted by FleischmannIN on Sunday, October 26, 2008 5:03 PM

I've opened up my fleischmann train set from 1973, it's all 250v (I bought it originally when I was stationed in Germany). I'd like to get the set up and running, my problem is I've only got the original transformer (Fleischmann Transformator Type 710 250v 10A with 14v output) and the trains were never powered by anything but it. The engines I have (total of six), only one was bought in the US, the rest are also original German models (example Model 1351 w/ tender) . Can I buy a 110v transformer and run the German engines (14V) and I'm also stuck with enough track, switches, lights and such to fill a complete 600sq ft set to get back up and running. Should I pack the track and such and buy new or can my original German set be brought to life with new power?

 Thanks in adavance.
