shayfan84325 -I used Behr 1 part epoxy paint. $27/gal. It went on nice and smooth. Dried really fast too. It took 1 1/2 gallons to do 2 coats on 200sq./ft. (half my room) I put it on pretty thick. Cleaned the floor with muriatic acid first. It's REALLY helping to keep the dust down.
I think I can resume work on my scenery now.

Hi Dave: Great weathering on the boxcar and hopper, you're becoming an expert at it!  I'm still amazed at the detail of N scale, that GG1 is really nice!

Ken: Those super trees are, well, Super! Keep up the good work.

Loathar: It looks like we both need to add some passengers to our passenger cars. Looks like your layout is coming along just fine. Your floor really looks good, too.

Dave V., nice to see your new GG1.  I'm sure you, of all people, will do it justice.  Looks like a nice model.

loathar, nice to see such images from you!  I did not know that Athearn made heavyweight pax cars.  And, your turntable looks nicely assembled.

Ken, your photos are very good, and show a great layout in the making.  I am amazed at what you have done, how well you have done it, and how far you have come in just a short while.  You are busy, friend.

A couple shots of my new Athearn B&O heavy weights.

Turntable going in.

New Yardbird can motor in my Mikado. Got a super detail kit for it too.

And lastly, fresh paint on half my train room floor. REALLY helping to keep the dust down!

I got a little work done this weekend, mainly adding some tress and doing a little painting on the mountain. Here is where I left off last time.

I have added some Super Tress, plus found I did not like the looks of some of the store bought tress. Added some ground foam to lighten up the bright green they had. This picture shows a Y6-b heading from the north the town of Kingsdown power plant to the wyne to K-10 mine. West bound NYC is dragging some feight.

Mean while at the gian comany a Heavy Mike is picking up some grain cars. It is all so taking a F7-A to the round house for major repairs. Seems C&K RR borwed a train crew from Selector! Big Smile Thay can not blame ill fated bridge on this one.

If you look in the back ground you will see some of the newley paind stone faces.

NYC is heading around the bend. Extra trees make it look a little fuller. Sorry this is not a good picture.

Dead tree's are being added. On top of K-10 mountain is a old wreck that Jeffery imspired some time ago. Just need to find a spot for it to rust away.

Time to hang out some trees to dry.

Thank you for your time, Cuda Ken

Just to prove to all that I haven't gone completely Conrail, I did a little Pennsy this weekend.  First up, I defiled a pair of Micro Trains N scale collectables...  I started with this great PRR Merchandise Service X29, trying to simulate the rust along the sills so common to the prototype (along with door scrapes):

I also attacked a PRR MoW hopper.  I haven't found a proto photo of one of these; I've seen H21s converted to ballast service, but not the GLa class.  I'm sure they existed.  I didn't bother to modify the hoppers for ballast spreading, but I did decide to paint the molded coal load gray (perhaps the MT car was supposed to be company coal service?  I dunno...) and added some WS gray blend ballast to it.

Then I weathered the "running gear" on my new Kato GG1.  Here she pulls into Lewisport station under the invisible catenary...:

Local residents are complaining about the giant bookcase:

Here's where I keep my Conrail alter-ego when not on the layout (note the 70's autos too):

Thanks, everyone, for you kindness and encouragement.  Means a lot to me.

I had been back and forth between the computer and the layout so many times, and never completely happy with any one image.  Finally I started to play with the "best" of the bunch in FastStone, and ended up skewing the saturation control far to the left to see what a grey tone would do to improve it a bit.  With about 60% taken out, it reminded me of an old photo, the kind you might see on a wall that had endured the odd late and early year sun when it is lowest in arc during the day.

I am glad you like it, and every bit as glad to read of your enjoyment of it.

Tom, you can post any image you please, I'll always linger over them. Smile  You have nice equipment displayed, and you display them nicely.

Crandell--

I'm with Terry--that's a gorgeous photograph!  And the weathering sure brings out the details on that beautiful "Beast From The East".  Dang, those are HANDSOME loco's, aren't they?  I sure like the job you're doing with yours. Bow

Okay, here's another one from me--apologies if I seem to be hogging this week--a shot of Deer Creek yard, with my ex-Moffat road 2-6-6-0 heading west with a stock train, while a 4-6-6-4 waits on the ready track to take over the next eastbound reefer extra, due in about twenty minutes.

I was rummaging around in an old chest and found some frayed and worn photos.  One was this one, perhaps colourized, maybe faded, of an Allegheny from the Chesapeake and Ohio.

Hi Ray: Excellent work on those older coaches. They look great, as do the switch stands!  I've finally begun working on switch stands for my yard, yikes, .020 is a small drill bit! Keep up the good work!

Now what is this thread doing on page 2 on Sunday?????

This weekend I found time to finish the Overton Coach in Seneca Lake, Ontario, & Western colors so my "Milk Train" is complete and can now be run.  Here is the coach sitting behind the combine at Hopewell Junction Depot.

Ray - Great work on the SLO & W coach. Your rails look great too, I've got to get me one of those rail roller brushes.

Thanks! As you can see I still need to paint the new railbars.....  I am waiting for some code 70 ones to come in at the LHS.  The Code 83 don't quite fit right on Atlas code 83 track.  I'm hoping the smaller ones will fit so trains can run without hiting them.

Ivanhen, thank you as well!

There's a lot of great stuff on here this weekend as usual. But I'm so tired I'm ready to pass out, so I only have time to comment on the last page.

Aggro - your graffitti is the best I've seen, period. Bow Nobody even comes close...

Robby - that old boxcar's really showing its age - nice job. You're certainly living up to the slogan above your signature, LOL!

Ray - Great work on the SLO & W coach. Your rails look great too, I've got to get me one of those rail roller brushes.

My camera battery's just about dead and the trainroom looks like a war zone, so I'll have to submit a 'rerun'. This is for those who love heavy equipment, I had alot of fun with Photoshop on this one (i.e. the dust cloud):

The Komatsu loader is a Kibri, the off-road dump truck is from a Walthers kit.

I try to remove the reporting marks as best as possible.  I use "trim film" and it depends on what color the film is, if the letters will show through.  If you use a lighter trim film for reporting marks, you will see the old ones.  Also people use the yellow trim film for reflective tape on cars.

Robby,

Do you use your own reporting marks, or real ones? I've never heard of EEC

Hey join in the fun Big Smile.  Your boxcar looks real good.  I can't find a roof like that anymore.  I find the ones with the panels to close to add the white lines.

Ray - nice job on those old Italian made coaches!! I've got 4 of them I picked up at a flea market 5 or 6 years ago, and I've never seen any more of them since! I'm at the grandsons' now, so I don't have access to them - can't remember manufacturer's name. Again, nice job!

Some great work as always here!

I have been doing some reading up on my favorite Fallen Flag the NYO&W, aka: O&W.  One thing I found is that they were still using some of their old Overton type passenger equipment in revenue service until 1930.  Since I have been looking for some short passenger cars to run in "milk trains" (in part due to my 22" radius curves in places) and since the SLO&W is stuck in 1925......  I got out some stored ancient Overton combines and coaches I have had over 25 years.  Got a couple cleaned up and decided to get them ready for revenue service.  I had put Kadee Couplers on way back then.

Took off the trucks (also added back then as they originally had the Talgo style on them) and took it apart and sent it to the paint shop.

The coach shown above is still undergoing renovations, but I have finished the first of two Combines:

The cars are from Pocher I think.  I have one more Combine that is a Tyco........Ashamed

Oh I also did some decal work on the loco that will be on "Milk Train" duty:

Robby P.

 Thanks for the compliments.

Now with the fade, I just used some white paint.  Thinned with paint thinner, and just air burshed on.

Do you mask the reporting marks or spray over them? Or, do you decal your own later?
