Nice Club!
I stalked Bill around waiting for him to screw something up... I saw Paul and Bob, and we were going to say "Hi" on the way out, but someone wanted to wait 20 minutes for a train to come...
Alex
Okay. I'll probably see you on Sunday then!
Technically speaking, the club entrance is tight across the street from the West Hingham MBTA commuter rail station. It is a bit of a walk to get to the clubhouse from the street, however. It's certainly less than a mile, but probably more like half a one. Naturally, the club is the last building (Building 51) on the park road.
Looking at Google maps, the club looks like it's about 900 yards from Fort Hill St., so that makes it almost exactly half a mile. So probably a 10 minute walk from the train? More or less.
The Bare Cove Park area between the street and our place is being turned into soccer fields and the like. The main road is finally paved, but they aren't going to be finished with the construction until next year. Just stay on the fresh pavement and follow it as far as possible, then go past the Fire Museum until you get to where all the cars are parked. That'll be us.

I'll come if I can make it. I'm writing an email to the webmaster to see if the MBTA station is directly across the street as Google Maps shows. A multiple-hour train ride (in to South Station from Worcester, then out to Hingham on a different train) may be the only way I can make it, as it's a 80 minute drive, and my parents are probably not willing to drive me...
EDIT: I may be able to hitch a ride with my parents to South Station when they visit the Children's Museum and take the MBTA to Hingham, probably on Sunday. Is the MBTA station within walking distance? My email to the SSMRC webmaster bounced...
Folks,It's time for the annual Fall Train Show and Open House for the South Shore Model Railway Club, Inc., of Hingham, MA. www.ssmrc.org
Established in 1938, the club moved into an above-ground 10,000 sq. ft. bunker at the former Naval Ammunition Depot in 1998 (now called Bare Cove Park). This building, built during WWI, is now one of the finest club buildings in the country. Our layout room is over 6300 sq. ft., of which approx. 1/3rd has been filled with an HO and HOn3 layout (we've got a long way to go). We are a 501(c)3 Not For Profit organization, and we are now up to 60+ members strong. New members are always welcome!
The Fall Show is actually in the club's layout room, so one can browse trains and watch our layout run at the same time. We have approx. 40 dealer tables, plus our White Elephant Table (some really ancient stuff there this year like Hobbytown and Varney kits of various ages, plus some new stuff from Atlas, Athearn, et al.)
We have two restrooms, free parking, and refreshments (coffee, soda, candy, cookies, etc.).
For more details or directions, please see our website or check the "Coming Events" link here at Trains.com.Both myself and Bob "bogp40" will be there. Come on by and say hi!
