scale drawing conversion on a copier

I know I have seen in MR a chart that indicates the settings for a copier to change a drawing from one scale to another. But for the life of me I can not remember which issue. Is there a web site or some other place I can quickly go to retrieve this information as I would like to change over some drawings today? Specifically, I have a HO scale drawing I want to convert to O scale for a friend. Thanks.

To enlarge HO (1:87) to O scale (1:48), you will need to set the copier at
(scale from) / (scale to) x 100 = percentage enlargement (or reduction if less than 1)
In this case:
87/48 x 100 = 181%
An example of reduction would be HO to N
87/160 x 100 = 54%

I have done some copying of plans but it has been so long I do not remember the ratios. That formula looks about right. I have found some copiers do not reduce or enlarge to the percentage that the say due to wear and some manufacturing tolerance.
I check the final copy with a scale rule to make certain the drawings are correct.

Shafferr,
In case you need it next time, the chart you're looking for, titled "
Converting scale drawing sizes:
" ran in the "
Workshop
," conducted by Keith Thompson. It is on page 24 of the September 1994 issue of
Model Railroader
. I keep a photocopy in a three-ring binder so that it's always handy (and hard to misplace !).
