Yeah , but it's fun. Can't restrain myself - did you ever consider that the most elite scale modeling group ( at least according to some modelers ) for model airplane, armor, & vehicles is known as I. P. M. S. Have they just accepteed the inevitable?

My wife went thru Menopause for about 7-8 years and then was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Thank God we caught it in time and after surgery and chemo she has a clean bill of health with a great prognoses. I know we guys yank alot of chains about, and thats ok but please don't ever take it for granted, it can be dangerous.

Somtimes one thing leads to another. A perfect example is a question about the availability of concrete turnouts for model track. The post started out about the modeling but it brought up the question on prototype practice. How can you pick up everything, so to speak, and move it to a different heading and still continue the threads?

OK evryone shuld understans this. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH POSTINGS ON REAL TRAINS. just sometimes their seems to be too much and would be better off pplaced in the prototype forum. Just my 2 cents. Also their is no need to make fun of me for brining up this topic.

The previous post by ' leighant ' is very relevant --- It is impossible to separate real railroading -past or present - from model railroading especially with the ever increasing attention to prototype operations and concern for accurate models of those prototypes by most model railroaders. Although I haven't been an active Forum participant until recently I have found it to be an extremely beneficial asset facilitating my return to model railroading after approx ten years of distractions, excuses and other priorities. I feel very fortunate to have such resources just a 'click' away at any time. I am also an active member of Kalmbach's "Scale Auto" Forum - (one of my distractions) and I suggest that it be viewed by those not content with the format of this Forum, or how it is being 'used'. Essentially the "Scale Auto" Forum has a far more expanded 'outline' separated into approx a dozen sub-forums (for a lack of another term to describe its format). Refer to www.scaleautomag.com and see for yourself. My humble opinion is that there is far too much complexity to both real railroading and model railroading to expect a single 'General Discussion Forum' to handle the breadth & diversity of our hobby - consider we are modeling or researching or discussing an industry that has evolved over the last 170 years approx, covering hundreds of railroads, thousands of prototypes-engines, rolling stock, & infrastructure, geography, mergers, operating rules, lineside industries, population and social trends, and so on. And that's just the prototype side of this hobby -we have quite a few different scales and gauges (within those scales), manufacturers-past & present, RTR, shake -the-box, kitbashing, craftsman level and scratchbuilt models made from wood, plastic, resin & metal, plus paint, decals & weathering, benchwork, trackwork, scenery, and electronics-throw in realistic operations, free-lancers & rivet counters, too. Look at the sheer # of topics alone under 'General Discussion' - then factor in the # of replys to that originating post, and then the # of times it was viewed. This will fast become, in my opinion, an unmanageable portion of the MR Forum if it remains a catchall for almost every conceivable ' topic'. . .and each of those' topics' is important to the originator and of value to all of us. And what if, a year or two from now, you need some particular info and vaguely recall something posted about it, but you just can't recall where or when, because there will be thousands more posts to "General Discussion" between now and then. Just thought I'd include my 2 cents worth, too.
