Rivarossi Big Boy parts
Posted by farrellaa on Thursday, March 18, 2004 12:29 PM
Does anyone know where I can get a parts list and exploded view of the parts for the Rivarossi Big Boy (old version)? The next question would be where to get the parts? Any help will be appreciated.[:)]

Speaking of BB parts, is it possible to replace the old drivers (the ones that only operate on code 100 rail) with the RP25 flanged ones? Would it be a simple drop in replacement?

This calls for our resident expert technician to chime in.

I picked up new motor off of e-bay and installed it last week. Motor works fine now only if I can get the engine to work. You'll find old parts are hard to find but not impossible.

I too have a 1960's rivarossi big boy. I have talked and even paid for the detail parts lists for all the different version of the big boy that rivarossi made from golf manor hobbies a few weeks back. I called twice the last time was today. He still hasn't sent them out yet. He promised me now twice to sent me the drawings. I am loosing patents can someone just email me the 1960 version of the parts list and exploded view of the train. P.S or FYI I run my big boy on the code 83 track with no problems.

I have dealt with Golf Manor hobbies for parts for a late model Rivarossi Challenger. While I admit they are not the best communicators in the world, they sent the part out and I got it in about a week via regular mail. Overall they are good to work with.
Thanks, Kevin

Golf Manor is a unique place. Very old school. As much stuff as a good sized train show... maybe more. They keep inventory in spiral notebooks, and if it says they have it, they do. Of course it may take an hour to find it, however. There's about four guys that work there, and they each seem to specialize in what they know about. I forget the "loco mechanic's" name, but he is GOOD. Their relative speed seems to depend on the energy level that day. I'm surprised they couldn't/didn't answer your drivers question and tell you what you need to do it, if it's possible.
What could have happened.... did.

if you hold fire for a while, the BB is on hornby's "things to do" list for this year so i suspect that many of the parts will become available again over the comming months.
