I thought the candles were because of Ike, but then I saw that he's from St. Louis...Whistling [:-^]

I love that wide-angle shot, spectratone!Thumbs Up [tup]

I have been pretty busy, Jeffery. Most of my weekend was spent pulling up track nails, cutting track (it was all soldered together), spraying the ballast underneath to loosen the glue, scraping the ballast off, and tearing up the cork roadbed. An old weight from a freightcar works well for getting under the cork and peeling it off. Yoshi: It was a little bit sad, but more in the way of remembering how long it took me to build it, rather than not being able to operate it. It does give me something to do though!Smile [:)]

I'm also diabetic, and the  XXX dietitian I went to suggested Honey graham cookies & Fignewtons!!  She also weighed about 80 lbs soaking wet (this was an adult woman!)  Never take advice from a skinny dietitian or eat in a resturant with a skinny cook!!  Get well soon!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Another update of my weed sprayer project. Not a whole lot, just finished painting and started the detailing with some copper wire. Next week I'll decal the cars.

Both cars.

Close up of the actual sprayers and the details there.

The often overlooked C&O H8 passing Clifton Forge on my version of the C&O. This yard is the hub of activity during operating sessions. There is a train arriving or departing about every 5 minutes or so. Only one switcher operating here and he loves it. but he is hinting that he may be leaving the C&O to work on a local shortline.

I got an urge to do some modelling, so I made some trees.

Using Aggro's method, I ground down cedar 1/2" dowels to a point.  Then I scored the dowels well with three different saw blades, twirling the dowel under it so that I wasn't just making a bunch of overlapping vertical lines.  Then, cutting different sized disks of blue natural fiber furnace filter (which I wisely bought three years ago when they were widely available locally), I teased the disks into several thinner plates of fibers, and slid them down the top of the dowel.  Then I sprayed it all an acrylic flat brown...rather dark it turns out. Shock [:O]

Then I did three sprays of white acrylic paint wash over the works, fibers 'n all.  Looks a wee bit heavy.

I let it all dry for about half an hour, and then used Super77 (by 3M) spray glue and did my best to spray the fiber disks...only.  My success could only be called modest.  Anyway, I then quickly sprinkled "blended turf" ground foam from WS, and then oversprayed it all with some Tresemme hair spray.

As always, the work in this thread is inspiring!

spectratrone, i'm envious! I've saved your photo for future reference when I build my dream workbench (hopefully soon - before the end of the year)

Tyler, glad you went ahead and got it done. It's sad, but you're making way for the bigger and better. We've got your supplies here, so let's plan for you to come up here next weekend.

I have some of the stuff that you have already, so I might have a head-start in cloning your workbench. I have the same type of lamp and drawer set.

I built the drawer set and upper. I stole Mike Fiffer's idea. Thanks Mike! I just happen to like oak and have all the tools to make cabinets and finish wood. I made a poor man's OTT light. 6500k/75w daylight bulb from walmart. Sure is nice to work on something and walk away from it for awhile then come back and it's just where and how you left it.

I got stuff to do, but not a whole lot of time or money. (Full-time job and Full-time college)

So far my work bench is a wal-mart folding table (like they type people make N-scale Layouts on). Has a vase for my brushes, scrap material goes into another set of drawers. Other stuff goes into a drawer like you have. I have a small cutting mat. Right now it's full of these projects:

1 P2K SD9, needs a new motor and decoder (again on the decoder, 3rd stinking time; works fine for a while, then Pfft, dead)

3 Kato C425s, needing decoders, paint, and some other modifications. (like making the wieght part of the frame, directional lighting, paint, and making it so the pilots don't bend when pulling a heavy load)

1 P2K Gp30, just some handrail paint, and the piping under the body

1 Athean Gp35. needing the worms and driveshafts (I already know the athearn ones will work, have yet to order them) horn and handrails. The P2k Gp30 handrails will work, the way P2K lists their parts, I can finish the Gp30 and Gp35 externally for cheap.

1 P2K U28B, needs the original coupler boxes, and a horn

I got stuff to do, but not a whole lot of time or money. (Full-time job and Full-time college)

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I see lots of medication and glue.

You should be fine.

lol, Those med bottles are great. air tight and compact. And free. Don,t worry, it's not a weeks supply. we've been saving them for a while. And lots of glue. all types of glue. I have a bank of drawers  under the layout that need cleaning out and reorganizing. You know how it is, a place for everything and nothings in it's place........

Thanks for all the nice coments . Make sure you show this to your wife and tell her you need one. Christmas is comming.

This Grain Elevator is really cool, how did you make this?

Did you print out the pics you took on card stock and then put it together like a kit?

It is so weird to see one of my local buildings in minature here.

I love it.

Let us know how you made this, I know it didn't take too long from when you took the pic until I was notified that it was done, keep up the great work, very creative and it does look better without the other building attached to it.
