It would make lots of sense for a BLI NP / GN /SP&S Challenger. That satisfies 3 different roads with one locomotive (basically).

Here's hoping for a late Cabforward, DM&IR Yellowstone, or NP Challenger.

I would guess BLI might do a PRR Q2, I1or a PRR G5 in the future.

On the Western side, how about the NP or SP&S A3?

Compare current P2k and BLI E-6 offerings (with sound). Which would you buy??

BLI's new series of locomotives is definently overpriced by about $150. I would like to see Heritage coming out with releases as often as L-Ls diesel models, instead of producing about 1 or 2 steamers a year. Atlas would make a great steamer, unfortunately they have no steamer-compatible drive and at the moment are mostly producing early diesel-modern era stuff as far as locomotives go.

And the only thing worse than an Athearn s a Bachmann![;)]

As long as they do the 4-8-4 ( with Great Northern paint sceme included) I'll be a happy camper !

Would love to see BLI move into the non-sound, DCC ready (not equipped) area. Dropping the price, I am guessing based on the price of Soundraxx equipment, maybe $70 to $100 would definately stimulate my interest in these highly detailed models!

Agreed! It would make sense for them to make the two versions of the streamlined J3A Husdons: Twentieth Century Limited styling and Empire State Express Styling. As stated BLI already has the running gear. Though not 100% accurate, HO cars in the "Gray" scheme for the Century have been available for years from AHM/Rivorossi.

I hope that they only produce 1 really good Q model! I would hate to have to pass on too many things that I would want, but not able to justify!

I think we'll see them move into the smaller steam arena - 2-8-0, 4-6-0 etc. Would also like them to look at MP-54 (gotta love those commuter units) and possibly GP30/35's.

I predict a PRR I-1 2-10-0, PRR Q2 4-4-6-4, Reading T1 4-8-4, and mabey a C&O J3a Greenbier.

Since this thread started they announced an N&W J, NYC Niagara, PRR K-4, SF 3800 class, USRA light 2-8-2, C30-7, E3/6, RSD-15, and an F7.
Chris got it right about that K-4.

Hello guys, I agree with AggroJones. [:)][:p]

The excercise here is to try to guess what BLI will be producing instead of what we wish they'd put out.

My guess, IMHO: [8)][;)]

EMD 1st generation: Probably a high nose SD9, SD18 or SD24.
EMD 2nd generation: Probably a GP38-2, GP40-2, or SD45

The logic behind it? [:p]
The EMD E7 and SW switchers use the 567 series diesel, same as the above mentioned 1st generation SD units. So it would be a simple matter for Broadway to utilize the current QSI unit that comes in their E7 except that they BLI might have to use just one speaker as hood units are cramped. BLI would probably put a different horn sound like they did with the EMD switchers.

In the 2nd generation category, the SD40-2 (already produced by BLI) uses the 645 series diesel, so again a simple matter as far as sound for a GP38, 40 etc. as these units also used the 645 series diesel. In the end BLI will base their decisions on professional marketing research.

(Wishful thinking [;)] ) It would be great if BLI could offer more than one locomotive horn sound option on their diesels as certain railroads had horn preferences. On their
SD40-2s CSX and NS use the K5 series horns on a large number of their units

Most prototype E7s from EMD came equipped with the WABCO E2 or the Leslie A200. These were the "honk" horns. It's the same sound that you hear on the BLI GGI.

I'm guessing that the decoders are already set up in such a way that programming options (switching from one feature to another) may be quite limted. This is why I like the Soundtraxx decoders so much. Still BLI deserves a salute for what they've done in moving our hobby forward with sound! [4:-)][C):-)][^][:D][8D][:I][:)][{(-_-)}][(-D][swg][tup]

A PRR Q2

I think the purpose of this was to see your prediction. Not what you want.

The young FEF-3 has been done by Rivarossi
The GS-4 is on its way from Bachmann Spectrum
The BigBoy is availible from Trix, Rivarossi, and Bowser
The SD70 is out by Genesis

The only logical items you mentioned are the PRR Q2 (highly possible) and mabey the UP 9000 (could be possible) .
Oh Aggro, gimme a break[:D]. I was just having fun. But, I think BLI could do a much better job on those models than the current manufactuers.

I believe that the will retreat back to Steam due to the forth coming P2K (E6, GP9 so far) and Atlas (FM TM) diesels with QSI sound. Thus after the USRA Light 2-8-2 just announced, I believe that there will be more single prototype locomotives like most of thier Steam locomotives to date.

What do you believe will be the next 5 locomotives (or cars, if you want) to be released by BLI? Just curious what you would like to see them make, or if someone will correctly predict one of BLI's future releases. If you want you can also list roadnames.I think they will make:
1) Pennsy K-4 4-6-2 Pacific
2)GP-7 phase 1
3)4-8-4 Northern(different class than AT&SF) - GN, NP, UP, D&RGW, CB&Q
4)Streamlined Hudson- New York Central
5)SD-90Mac
