UP's New SD90Mac #8555
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 1:10 AM

Does anyone out there know if UP's new SD90Mac #8555 is a real 6000 Hp unit?
& If any model company will be producing a run of them?

Same with the new GM SD70ACe unit. Does any US Railroad have any yet?

Thanks heeps.

it appears to ba a 6000hp unit due to the angled hood and the designation as a SD90AC. i think www.seprotomodels.com is planning on making the new cab style, but you will have to add it to a Kato or RPP shell and add the angled hood and dual exhaust stack. Athearn has the RPP molds so maybe we'll see SD90's from them some day.

i think the the SD70ACe's are still being tested. i dont know if any orders have ben placed. but someone over on the trains forum should know.

Take note that all true SD 90s don't have this ugly cab; many have the same as the SD 90/43s have.

all new EMD widecab locos that the UP is getting have these new cabs. you can see them on the SD70ACe's and the new SD70M's
