glass / town of Oneonta
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, March 14, 2004 9:08 PM
I have several LL glass hoppers that have return to Oneonta NY, which is in NY State. I read the postings on "glass factories" there was no mention of Oneonta.
Can anyone tell me if there was a factory there or was the cars just stored there. These cars are D&H 30' hoppers. If there was a factory there what was the name, manufactured what kind of glass product, any pictures of the buildings available? Thank you for any info

Ralph, a small group of these two bay hopper cars were used by the City of Oneonta to haul recycled glass to the Corning Glass Works in Chumung County. Sorry, no glass factory in Oneonta. I'm originally from Binghamton and know the area pretty well. My info comes from the Morning Sun D&H Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment book. Happy Modeling, -Jack.
