Thanks for the help. Now that I have a direction to go I agree that it might be a c-628. I don't think the Army ran any of these engines either. All I've ever seen are GP-9's and 38's. Thanks for the help. Dan

The manufacturer was a company that has been imported under a few names (AHM, IHC, Mehano, and a few others I think) The model I beleive is of a C-628 (ALCO), but I am not aware of the army owning anything much bigger than a GP-9. But I'm not into Alco's, not Army engines. You could try a "spotter's guide" .
