In some of my recent outings, I've see quite a few of the pre-YN2 jobs, particularly on slug and mother sets.
I shot this one in Hagerstown two, maybe three years ago.

It's the early '90s for me !
There was all sorts of variety.
I see Polly Scale has the YN3 blue/gold colors now.
My favorite was the BC2 scheme. I really like the black outline on the yellow CSX logo.
One of the reasons I was willing to model a contemporary railroad was the YN2 Bright Future scheme, which I thought was highly attractive. I had been modeling pre-Chessie B&O, but the dark blue diesels with deep yellow trim were not very photogenic (IMHO). Needless to say, I was quite disappointed when I started seeing those solid-blue YN3 units. For that reason, I will never model anything past the year 2001.

The YN2 scheme "Bright Future" scheme (Blue, Gray, Yellow slant on the nose) to me will always be my favorite as well as its variant with the lightning bolts. Some of you may have remembered the big publicity fanfare that the Bright Futures paint scheme generated.
I'm not too crazy about the curent paint scheme, but I admit that it does look decent.
