Tom,
For what it's worth...I went to Photobucket and clicked on one of my photos for editing. Don--
I'm on DSL. Thanks, I'll try the 'refresh' button and see if that does anything. As I said, it's only since the "Indy" thing came up on the 'edit' page that I've been having this trouble.

I go to the photo, hit 'edit', it takes me to the Indy site, where it says 'editing photo for TWhite, etc.' but the photo never downloads. All I get is a blank, black screen and the ad for the Indy movie which is taking up about the last fourth of the screen. There's no way I can get rid of the pop-up, either. It's just THERE! Any ideas? Tom

What's so bad about 'only' dsl? It's a dedicated line that only you have access to (unless you have multiple computers at home on the same line). A cable modem setup is NOT a dedicated line; you share it with the rest of the people that have their tv's and such connected to that same line in your neighborhood. I have Verizon dsl at 3 mb. Comcast advertises upto 16 mb, but that's only for 1 user on the line. Get 8 users on that line and your down to 2 mb, and so on. And if you've got Verizon phone service, their FIOS is available in certain areas with 5 mb speed. If youve got 768k dsl, see about upgrading it to 3 mb.

DJ,
Don't quite know where you're getting stuck so I'll try and guide you though the whole thing..
I have a folder on my machine specifically for uploading general photos. I call it AAA UPLOAD just so it's near the top of the list and I can find it.
You open picasa and you have a screen similar to this.. Picasa when you installed it, created a huge catalog of all your photos.
You select the one you want to edit.
Make your changes, crop, rotate, add some stuff, etc. All of it is undo-able so don't worry about ruining the photo. (not a bad idea to back it up however)
When you are finished, you can hit the EXPORT button down at the bottom of the screen, Or hit File (top left), EXPORT PICTURE TO FOLDER (shown circled in red below)
and this will come up..
I hit the Browse button and guide it to my upload directory (see first photo above). It wants to add a subdirectory called Export so I just let it do it (yours may differ, doesn't matter just so you know where to find it). I leave the image quality at automatic and I can adjust the size slider for larger or smaller (800 is fine for web posting and sharing).
The file I exported is in the Export folder..
It is that directory (wherever you exported to) that you want to point your photobucket file selector to. From here, go to the top of my other post about photobucket usage.
Another photo for you to enjoy..
Grampys Trains wrote:Hello rolleiman: I have Picasa loaded, but since I'm still fairly new to posting photos, would you please describe how to move photos from Picasa to Photobucket? Thank you.

It's really quite simple.. Once you've edited and saved your photo on your computer
Log into your photobucket account and select the Choose File button about the center right of the screen (make sure you have My Computer selected in the From colum on the right).
A window will come up for you to select your file(s). You can select a single file, or multiples by holding down the ctrl key while clicking each one. Once you've done that, click the OPEN button (lower right of pop up).
Photobucket will begin copying your photos from your computer. You can do other things while it progresses.
(This part is new to me, been awhile since I've actually used photobucket for anything)
Once loaded, you'll be given the option of titling, editing, resizing, etc your photos as you want them to be seen on photobucket. I chose the Save and Continue option (no changes, they can also be done later).
You are done. You should see your photos in the set (first two are the ones I uploaded for this demo)

To show off your handi work, click the Direct Link below the photo you want to show and it will copy the link for you.
Then place it between the IMG brackets as shown below (don't forget the slash in the second IMG..
And There you have it..
Research; it's not just for geeks.
I've got no problems with the ads, it's just this Indiana Jones thingy that is stopping me from editing. In the meantime, I've tried a couple of other photo editing programs, but they don't seem to want to work, either. Tried Picasa, and it's a total bust--can't move it anywhere, and can't copy from it, either.
Oh well, I'll just wait for the movie to come out on the 22nd, and then maybe the ad will go away and I can get back into the editing program. I can always hope.
I just logged onto Photo Bucket and no problems. I use Firefox 2.0 along wih Flash Blocker 1.5.6. Flash Blocker gives me control of those Flash Adds. Most of the time I do not click on the large "F" that Flash Blocker puts up. I can choose to watch or not watch Flash adds. There are some small windows with a F in them. They are Flash adds. Nothing happens untill I click on the F. I gave up IE many years ago when I went to a Linux operating system.
If you insist on Windows and Gates, at least switch over the Firefox browser and select Block pop ups and download and install Flash Blocker from the Firefox site. Flash Blocker is a Firefox add on.
I have installed Firefox for friends. There is a Windows version. It is free.
Take back control of your browser.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Perhaps Popup is the wrong word. I'm using Firefox too and there are plenty of ads on the page.
Here's what I see in Photobucket, and the ads change with each click of the mouse..
Here's what I see when I look at a photo on my dedicated webspace..
The site provider does have edit capability (without the ads), I just prefer to do it locally.

I think it's still free but now you have to put up with a lot more of their pop-up ads to use it. Great for sharing photos but a pain for anything else (IMO) which is why I have dedicated webspace. All that goes away but I do have to pre-edit before uploading them.
Another simple freebie program I forgot to mention is FastStone
Rolleiman--
Actually, the Photobucket editing is quick and simple. And at least until this weekend when Indy popped up, it was free. Hm--maybe I'd better check into this.
I had Adobe Photoshop for years, but they up-graded the program and made the editing process into an extremely laborious proposition--and one that tends to run you in circles.
I'll just work on Indy, I guess. Maybe the first several weeks on Photobucket was free and it isn't now--though I didn't get any kind of notice. I'll have to check into this.
Loathar--I hear you loud and clear, my friend. Sometimes I can hardly find my photos because I have to scan through so many ads. I mean, no, I DON'T want to go to Bermuda, and no, I DON'T need any female 'intimate' products. Sheesh!!
Reason I ask this, is that every time I go into the 'edit photo' function on Photobucket, it zooms me over to a pop-up for the latest Indiana Jones movie, but won't download the photo I want to work on. Has anyone else run into this the past couple of days, or is it just my computer going whacko?
Hey, I LOVE Indy, and want to see the latest film, but I'd also like to work on some pictures!
Anyone else having this problem?
