Can someone identify this?

I won this Atlas engine off of eBay...I know it's an 0-6-0, but I'm not sure what specific type of engine it's supposed to be. Sorry about the grainy pic...the engine itself hasn't arrived yet, so I had to use the image from eBay.

It's an 0-6-6 tank switching engine. It's most often used in switch yards or small industries. Because of the small amount of fuel and water that it could carry it has to stay close to home.

Correcting timthechef typing error, it's a 0-6-0T dockside like timthechef stated, but will add it's also N scale. I check the Atlas web site and it's not listed but could be an older model not listed anymore. Are you sure it's Atlas?

The seller claimed it is. He did say that it's an older model, too.

Ray knows his stuff, and is correct as usual. In addition, like many early plastic imports, the engine is loosely based on a European prototype, and is somewhat difficult to "Americanize", even if you wanted to.[:(]

Cool, thanks for the help, guys. I'm not too worried about how the loco runs...it's going to be part of my scenery in "broken down" form in a freight yard when I'm done weathering it and such.

The loco, or at least the chassis, looks rather like an old Minitrix one - the same chassis was released with British, European, and US bodywork. I have one of the British versions (modelled on an LMS 0-6-0 dock tank) which is pretty good. Only problem is that the loco it's modelled on had rather more valve gear than the model!

That was a very informative review site. It was interesting to see that despite the bashing Life Like sometimes takes on these forums, all Life Like diesels were rated either A or B. Although not as highly rated as Kato and Atlas (no surprise there), they were ahead of any other manufacturer.

I have an 0-4-0 tank that looks pretty similar to yours, just one set of drivers less. I use mine in my port. I think they were originally built to be a maid-of-all-work whereever shunt type engines were needed.
