RR Forums How many are out there?
Posted by Fergmiester on Saturday, February 21, 2004 7:16 AM
Just another curiousity question but how many forums are out there for MR'ng types? Personally I like this forum as there is a wide selection of people with a good knowledge base and for the most part a good sense of Ha HA. I'm just assuming by some of the threads that this is one of many and the many has different perspectives and levels of seriousness.

Yahoo! groups has many, Atlas (O, HO, N and DCC) and Bachmann each have forums.

I typed "model railroad forum" (if you put " in front and " at the back only the complete phrase is looked for ) at the YAHOO site,
and there came back 8940 hits, so there must be a lot around, I found this forum through my online subscription to MR magazine, and I completely agree with what fergmiester put in his post.
(and because I model US RR and not dutch or bavarian railroads as lots of dutchmen do)

the model railroad forums over at www.atlasrr.com are the best i have found (no offense intended) [:D] they have the best mix of modelers. check em out at http://forum.atlasrr.com/default.asp and one really good thing is that several manufacturers are present on that forum. like Atlas (of course) and marty McG from Intermountain and a couple others that dont post much.

the other ones i hang out at are:

www.railroadforum.com pretty good all around friendly place. not a whole lot of traffic tho.

www.railroad-line.com the best place to go to find some excellent scratchbuilders. not much traffic there either.

www.the-gauge.com more excellent scratchbuilders and lots of steam and logging info. pretty good ammount of traffic and they have this really cool live chat feature. there are usually 5-10 people chatting there every night.

dont get stuck in one forum, c'mon over and check out all the others!
