Thanks Darth Sante Fe. The mystery is solved
It is part number 8 and 9 on the Cab Forward. I guess they were in the wrong box....
okay, now you have an excuse to make a kitbashed 4-8-8-4 cab forward
Now I know where the handrails went for my Riva Cab Forward, been looking for them for 3 years now
I have the Rivarossi 4005. I do not see where those handrails would go.
I agree, they are probally extra parts from another kit.
I hope you like your Big Boy as much as I do mine.
So many scales, so many trains, so little time.....
I just looked up a diagram at hoseeker.net, and those handrails don't go to the Big Boy. They are the cab grab irons for the 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward.

I don't have one of these, so this is just a guess, but cacloe might be on the right track (Pun intended ) Do You have the tender that goes with this Locomotive? Those look to me like they could be the hand rails for the rear side ladders on the tender.

May your flanges always stay BETWEEN the rails

I don't think so. If you look at prototype and model photos, there is no other handrails near the cab..... Only what I aready have... Maybe these parts don't belong with this loco????
I bought "basket case" AHM/Rivarossi Big Boy last week. It is an early model with large flanges and a large round "Can" motor in the cab. It has the silver smoke box and firebox and is numbered 4013. My best guess is that it is from the late 1970's or early 1980's.
I got it all back togther and it runs very well, but I have two wire "thingy's" left over and I don't know where they go. I also have an older "square" motor version that is noiser and runs faster. But it doesn't have these wire things.
Any ideas?
