Number boards on diesel

I think painting will let a small amount of light through, but then it might be better to get molded plastic boards instead. I've never tried this, but it's what i've heard.

I think what your looking for is a better way to paint number boards. I would get a can of testors or any other brand of model spray paint and try that. This should elimate brush strokes, and apply a more even finish.

Sorry a few errors in my typing I fixed.........................Paint them any flat white......Here is a trick I picked up on many years ago that does a job like you have never seen when using decals. Place your decal where ever you want it, dab up the water, and lightly spray what your working on with this to seal the decals. "DEFT" semigloss spray. It melts the decals into grooves, around bolts etc.....and lets a dull covering over your work. You will be shocked how good this stuff is. REMEMBER a light coat only at first then you can spray the entire project. It drys in a few clicks of your fingers and your project looks like new. You can get at any hardware store, wal-mart and so on.

Paint it a gloss white, apply the number decals with setting solutions, then apply a coat of dull coat and it will look pretty good.

Hi,

I am currently detailing a GP40 athearn diesel. I have painted the clear number boards white with floquil paint, however, am disastisfied with the results.
The paint just dosent look right. Do any of the detail manufacturers make better number boards for these units already molded in white? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
