I've seen some on eBay that are listed as replacements for Digitrax decoders. Are the NCE ones of similar quality, or should I avoid them?

NCE decoders are just as good as Digitrax, but like Digitrax there are different models of NCE decoders. What I would suggest you do is go to NCE's Web site and check the specifications for the type of decoder you need and see if those offered on E-bay have as many functions as you need and can handle the amperage rating. NCE is North Coast Engineeering, located in New York State.
