Lupo*) was the name I was given by my friends way-back in the 70-ies,
I thought it fitted me better than my birth given name and I use it everywhere were I can or must sign in (if it is not taken) I was glad that I could use it here, specially because of the middle part UP, for I collect UP locomotives.
Because all of the UP bashing going on last month I kind of censored the middle bit out
(also to make a sort of point about tolerance and intolerance)

*) Longhaired Unidentifiable Paranoid Object
and LUPO is a German comic figure, something like Goofy [:p]

Dave- Dave9998 was taken[:)].
But seriously, I tried Dave, Dave1, Dave2, Dave3,.........So after about ten attempts, I jump to 9999, and it worked.
I figured that there couldn't be that many Dave's on this site. Dave

Alright Mark, I'll put my whole story in one place. I've posted the parts in different places but not all together.

Almost everyone here knows that the Big Boy was the Union Pacific's largest steam engine, but that's not the entire reason. I'm 6'-1" about 340 these days, but losing very slowly. (Is that big enough?)

I'm not even that much of a steam fan, or a UP fan for that matter, but I also have a connection to this particular locomotive.

Back in the early 80's, long before you were born, I lived in Denver. I used to be a member of the HO and the N scale clubs at the Forney Transportation Museum, which is where 4005 rests. I saw this locomotive all of the time.

So, between my size and my connection to the engine itself, I came up with this. Now you know the story behind my handle.

Well, it's quite obvious, isn't it[?] The Big Boy is my all time favorite locomotive[^]. I've got maybe 3 or 5 books on it, some posters, a monogram model, and a video (hope to get the pentrex DVD and a Rivarossi soon). And 4-8-8-4 is the wheel arangment. Before I was Steamtrainfreak, but decided 4884bigboy suited me better.[:D][:D][:D][:D]

My screenname was originally taken from a roleplaying game character (paper & dice, not computer) I ran back in 1987-1990 (in college.) I used this character's name for the first bulletin-board handle I ever used (Steve Jackson Games Illuminati BBS, 1988) and have used it for online communication ever since.

Well, my first name is obvious and of course there is my favorite locomotive.

I've always been a fan of large, fast streamlined engines. This includes steamers like the NYC J3a and the E7, my overall passenger favorite.

I like the Santa Fe "Cowl" model because up until a few years ago FP45s were in service. To me, that is the most attractive body style EMD has ever produced.

[1] they were used to haul the "Super Chief" in its final Santa Fe days,
[2] they pulled the Santa Fe "Super C">America's fastest scheduled freight train.
[3] according to reports, some engineers stated that in the early 70s they could run 90mph easily because of the high gear ratios.
NIce combo of good looks, power, and speed.
(and yes, they also had their share of problems with those 20 cylinder monsters under the sheet metal!)

Now if only Kato would produce one with fine detail and see thru grills.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

my schools team name is the Blackhawks, but on all our jersey's and everything it has Hawks and we that what people call us, due to the whole Indian thing in Wisconsin now a lot of teams are changing and Hawks is just shorter. 05 is the year i graduate from high school and its my lucky number. 05 or 86 is in almost any of my sign in names.

DeSchane is my real name. I can't tell you what buddies called me when I was in the ARMY, way back in 69-72. I'm way old, however, it's good to see some folks are truly older than dirt on this forum!

Mine is a nickname given to me by a coach in the seventies because of the way I played basketball. He thought I played something like Pistol Pete Marivich. I had his hustle but not his skills.

Eriediamond because I grew up along the Erie line that used to run from Buffalo, NY to Salamanca, NY and it served our town of South Dayton, NY. We had a large dairy farm there. That was back when steam ruled and it's also the line I'm modeling.

Because my car is a 1988 Trans Am GTA with a 350 engine, doesn't make too much sense on a train site, but it's what I use for all my log-ins. I guess I have to change it though, I recently sold it.

My screename, EJEman, results from having growing up right near the main E,J & E line that went thru Chicago Heights,Il, and because the EJ&E is one of the roads that I model (N-scale).

88GTA,

It's a shame that you had to sell your car. The GTA , along with the IROC Z28 are becoming collector's items! Manitenancewise, they can be expensive headaches!

Lightbender, it's what I do for a living. Also known as a gemcutter. I put little tiny polished flats on rocks that entice ladies to spend good modelling cash on totally useless adornments. Anybody want to buy a ruby, sapphire or emerald?

Because, having grown up alone MoPac's Sedalia Sub in west-centray Missouri, I am in to MoPac, and I model in "n" scale, thus the play on words n2mopac.

I almost regret my screenname, but I have used it for a long time and it is easy to just have one name for the many groups I visit. I chose it because the first time I needed a screenname I was actually "spying" on a competitors web site and as we are in the wood business, I thought it was appropriate -"Lyctus" is a wood borer beetle.
I'd rather be Mountain, or Pacific !
Geoff I wish I was better trained.
