Wish I had a railfanning trip as good as that. My experiences are the same 2 conrail SD40-2 in browns yard plus a couple of GP38-2. In South plainfield I see a few GP38-2 and some NS and CSX SD70 on the main line. Hard to find places in NJ where you can go to watch and not get hassled for being a terrorist. Joe

Railfan Trip! part.1

I went railfanning yesterday, here what we saw. We drove to Bethlehem where we saw a PB&NE SW7, a Guilford GP40-2 sitting near the old intermodel yard, and a Dash 9 stopped on a freight. We waited for the freight a mile ahead for 5 minutes then decided to go (very, very, very bad move). 2 minutes later we drove next to NS's Allentown yard when we saw a UP AC4400 on the other side of the river where we just were(aaaahhhhhhhhh)!!!!! In the yard (we couldn't get a picture) were Iowa Chicago & Eastern and CEFX SD40M-2s (rebuilt SD45s)!!!!!! We drove an hour to Reading seeing NS train 18G (couldn't see the engines, 2 C40-9W and a C40-9 (standard cab Dash9, only NS has em') on another freight. We went to Spring Street yard in Reading and saw 2 Lancaster & Northern U23Bs. This was all in mid-day when we always wait and see no trains the other times we went railfanning on this line! We drove to Sinking Springs, Pa where we saw 2 Dash 9s on a freight. We then went to the Reading & Northern in Port Clinton next (the R&N is the only RR I know of that lets you go to there yard, as long as you stay off the track of course). Outside the engine house where a SD45R and a SW1500. We drove back to home on the way missing a freight and seeing NS RoadRailer 261led by LMS and CR Dash 8s.

We didn't get many pics but I'd say the day was a C.
