Hi,
I typically sell on Ebay at Christmas time and buy during the summer. I've had 626 individual transactions, with about 250 as a seller (all 100% positive).
Some model RR items will get top prices year round - like pristine Lionel postwar (w/box) and the more desireable HO pieces - either vintage or hard to find.
As a buyer, I've often gotten my best deals in the summer, or when the seller doesn't "properly" identify or catigorize the item being sold. In example, Bachmann (correct) may be listed as Bachman, Bev-Bel may be listed as Bevbel, and a desireable Athearn vintage metal boxcar kit may just be listed as Athearn boxcar (or box car).
Interesting side....... I had 70 RR auctions at Christmas 2006 and 100 RR auctions at Christmas 2007. Each year, about half the stuff sold in early December, probably for Christmas presents. But after Christmas, much of what was left (and relisted) sold as well. I figure this was folks buying for themselves, with Christmas money or just because they had the time available to shop for them.
FWIW.........
