If memory serves me, which it often doesn't, MR's Clinchfield RR, done some decades ago, was the catylist that got N scale trains selling like hot cakes. It proved that N scale could look highly detailed and please the rivet counters.

This Z scale SP layout might just spur sales. I'm sure that the Z scale mfgrs loved that article too.

Yes, it was gorgeous. It was also interesting to see how an individual's vision that differed substantially from the norm (no structures, no turnouts) could be skillfully executed to produce an exceptional layout.

I liked it to. It is unfortunate that the article did not state that there are in fact turnouts available.

Also, to improve such a tiny train layout, it would be good to raise it to eye level to capture the angles that the camera captures.

The detailing was superb. Perhaps the trees were N scale? I didn't see wires on the telephone poles.

Just be cautious not to sneeze at eye level because your train would vaporize

You bet it was. I guess he likes just watching trains run, otherwise he would have put some sidings or staging on the layout.

I have to admit, that Z scale layout in the new issue of MR was really cool. The guy who made it could be a spokesman for the Z scale industry.
