Your choice of DCC system is going to depend a lot on what you intend to do with it. How large is your layout? How many trains do you operate, or want to operate, simultaneously? Do you have on-board sound systems such as SoundTraxx decoders? If so, Atlas is probably NOT the one you want to use. Although the Atlas Master system is built by Lenz, it has a lot of limitations to keep the cost down. Your best bet would be to download the operating manuals of the various systems and read through them to get a better understanding of what each system has to offer, and then determine which one will fit your needs. As near as I know, all of the manufacturers post downloadable documention in Adobe format on their Web sites.

Several ers in the Omaha area use EasyDCC. Seems to work well. The people who bought it are happy with it. Earlier versions either didn't have 4 digit addressing or it was cumbersome (one reason I chose NCE). Current versions (which I haven't seen or used) use a streamlined 4 digit addressing entry closer to what NCE uses. Easy DCC also uses coax cable for the cab bus while most of the others use 6 conductor phone line (I working with coax, another reason I chose NCE).

That was the Atlas site. EasyDCC is made by CVP Products, and that site is at www.cvpusa.com.
