Hi Lillen,

The Branchline kits certainly take a little time to assemble correctly. Bring your patience to the workbench, and follow the instructions carefully. An important tip would be to make sure the center sill is properly seated in the body core. The first car I built, I didn't ensure that and ended up having to ease it out and refit it later. They usually take quite a bit of force to get them fully seated.

I don't think the laserkit parts are available via Walthers - you'd have to contact them directly and see what they can do.

Lillen,

With care the Branchline trucks build up quite nicely (I've now built four Branchline cars) but if you absolutely want to replace them, you'll need to modify the mounts on the Branchline car. There is a kit available to do this - see: http://www.rgspemkt.com/WKW-BLBolster.html

There is an article on building the Branchline pullmans up here: http://varnish.pennsyrr.com/BL01.html - this includes information on building up the trucks.

Thanks, so there is quite a bit of work hey. Well I will see how the original trucks turn out. I just like the weight of the metal that low. Do you know if those things on his site is available through Walthers?

IHC also makes some excellent trucks for heavyweight passenger cars. The number is348-4256 or 348-4258 depending on if you want friction or roller bearings.

A good direct replacement are Walther's new heavyweight trucks, part number 933-1078:

Walthers has all sorts of new passenger car trucks, so if you need something different, dig around in the 933 range a bit.

Trucks for Branchline kit
Posted by Lillen on Monday, January 28, 2008 6:21 AM

Hi,

I have a Branchline kit, heavyweight 12-1 Sleeper. When I started assembly I noticed that the trucks are plastic. So I want to replace them. Anyone got a suggestion for some good quality metal trucks?

This is the description that walthers have:

181-5328Blueprint Series 12-1 Pullman Sleeper - Plastic Kit -- Baltimore & Ohio "East Chicago" (blue, gray)
