I think it came out quite well. Certainly inspiring to a beginner such as myself. Well done.

The chemicals don't affect the paint at all, at least not acrylics.   They have a pretty bad odor though.

Not too bad. Air bubbles suck!

Do those Micro Scale chemicals effect paint at all? I was doing some decals a while back and used some old Floquil decal set and it dissolved the paint and ruined it. I've been afraid to use any setting solution since.

That, in addition to getting the decals to really snuggle down is what Microsol is for. Put a fresh blade in your xacto knife and pop any bubbles or frosty areas with it and then coat it with the Microsol, let dry and repeat until all the bubbles are gone, then seal with dullcote. or whatever finish you want.

You can do it with Microset but it will take more coats.

Stubborn areas can be persuaded with a damp cue-tip, but be careful that you only use a straight downward force, any twisting and you can distort the softened decal.

It turned out OK... A few bubbles in the decals.  I used a cheap Testors' single-action airbrush and Badger engine black paint.  This airbrush is great for scenery and such but I think that I will invest in a nice dual action once I get a little more practice.  I'd like finer spray control and not so much pressure!  I tried to use the Micro-scale decals to make the white stripe across the Loco, yet I had much trouble with it falling apart, so I painted the rear half of the stripe instead.  It didn't quite match up but is acceptable to me for first try.  The one thing that I am kicking myself about is that I forgot the rear numberboards!!!!  OOPS!  I used Micro-scale Micro-set, but I'm wondering how well the Micro-sol would work to prevent bubbles.  Anyone have any advice?  Much thanks,

John
