I'm always surprised at complaints about length of turnouts beyond the frog. The same modeler who doesn't hesitate even 1 second to cut a piece of flex track or even sectional track to the correct length is paranoid about doing anything to a turnout. Folks - a turnout is track, just like your flex track. They are easily shortened with the same rail nippers you use for flex track. As long as you don't disturb between just before the points to just after the frog and guard rails, the turnout will function the same as always mechanically and electrically. Turnouts can even be curved a little by cutting the web between the ties under the outside stock rail.
Make the turnout work for you, not the other way around!

I've been taking a look at the Atlas super code 83 turnouts. They seem to be a bit more improved than thier older versions. But, before I dive in on buying some, I would like to hear from those who have these turnouts installed on your layouts. Are you satisfied with thier quality, or do you recommend I avoid them.
