The Ulrich track cleaning car was popular in its day and if it really "works" - why not use it? It cannot do any harm and might do some good although I think the modern and expensive track cleaning cars are an improvement
When you look at old Trackside photos in Model Railroaders from the 1950s it is interesting how often you'll see an Ulrich track cleaning car in the photo somewhere in the background, such as in a yard.

I was going through some stuff on the weekend & came across an Ulrich Track Cleaning car that my Dad had. [:)]
Am I nuts to use this thing? [%-)]
I can't afford one of the up-to-date cars yet & I'm asking for your opinion. [?]
It's more or less intact.
I need to add couplers & I have a set of Athearn trucks with Proto 1000 axles I canon to replace the metal spring loaded trucks. [^]
Brought to you by the letters C.P.R. as well as D&H!
K1a - all the way
